Expertise-guided AI-assisted science

AlphaScience Lab

We explore how scientific expertise can guide AI systems toward more rigorous, auditable, and responsible discovery workflows.

Mission

Human judgement. AI execution.

AlphaScience Lab is focused on AI-assisted scientific discovery under expert governance. Our goal is not to replace scientific judgement, but to increase the scale at which careful researchers can formulate questions, test assumptions, inspect evidence, and refine claims.

We are developing workflows where AI helps with search, coding, analysis, visualization, and synthesis, while human researchers remain responsible for framing, validation, interpretation, authorship, and publication decisions.

Research Agenda

A lab for careful acceleration, not unchecked automation.

Our early work is organized around the practical question of how AI can support stronger scientific reasoning without weakening evidence standards.

01

Expert-guided workflows

Designing research loops where professional judgement determines what to ask, what to test, when to escalate, and when to stop.

02

Auditable execution

Preserving the files, commands, figures, checks, and decision points needed to understand how a scientific claim was produced.

03

Bounded claims

Connecting each conclusion to the evidence that supports it, and making the limits of current evidence visible.

Principles

Scientific ambition should come with traceability.

  • Human responsibility AI systems assist the work; researchers govern the claim.
  • Evidence before narrative Outputs are useful only when they can be checked, repeated, and bounded.
  • Conservative public claims Unpublished work should be described by goals and standards, not overstated results.
